Size Guide

Every print is sold in the eight sizes below. Measurements are the size of the paper you receive. All prints are portrait (vertical) orientation. That means a 24 × 36 is not simply a scaled-up 8 × 10: the artwork is re-composed to suit each shape, so a little more or less of the edges is visible depending on which you pick. The subject and the character of the painting are the same in every size. How to pick a size for your wall Measure the wall, not the frame Artwork usually looks best occupying roughly 60–75% of the width of the furniture it hangs above. Above a standard three-seat sofa (about 84 in / 213 cm wide), that points to a 20 × 30 or 24 × 36. Above a 30-inch nightstand, an 11 × 14 or 16 × 20. Hang at eye level The conventional gallery rule is to put the centre of the artwork about 57–60 in (145–152 cm) from the floor. Above furniture, leave 6–10 in (15–25 cm) between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the frame so the two read as one group. Tape it out first The cheapest way to avoid buying the wrong size: cut a piece of newspaper or kraft paper to the exact dimensions in the table above, tape it to the wall, and live with it for a day. It is far more reliable than judging from a photograph. Remember the frame adds size A frame with a mount (mat) adds substantially to the footprint on the wall — often 3–4 in (8–10 cm) on each side. If wall space is tight, measure the framed dimensions, not the paper. Framing All eight sizes are standard US frame sizes, so you can buy a frame off the shelf from any home or craft store — you do not need custom framing. Buy a frame that matches the paper size, or a larger frame with a mount cut to the paper size if you want a border. Prints ship unframed. The frames in our product photographs are styling props and are not included. Paper Every print is produced on 200 gsm / 80 lb matte art paper. It is a heavyweight, non-reflective stock: substantial enough to hang well, matte enough that the brushwork reads without glare under normal room lighting. Still not sure?
